Marble is a cheap substitute for slate...It is much too hard for a good ball reaction to the slight bouncing and rolling the balls do. Slate works best because it is hard but not too hard a good high quality slate. I shot on a table with a marble bed. The ball roll is off like you were shooting on a kitchen counter top. Marble, Imitation Slatetron or ply wood beds are never up to the standards of a good slate. Spending on a good slate is good.
